I am Aneta MacGibbon, founder of Māui House of Beauty. My work lives at the meeting point of beauty and stillness — where a precisely placed brow stroke and a quiet, held breath belong to the same practice.
I have trained in the art of permanent makeup, in the ancient traditions of spa therapy, and in the gentle science of energy healing. I created Māui as a place where these three paths could finally sit under one roof — a house where you come to be seen, cared for, and returned to yourself.
No two treatments here are ever quite the same, because no two clients are. Each person who enters this house arrives with her own history, her own skin and her own rhythm of living — and so every treatment is composed individually, with equal attention to what you wish for and to what your health quietly requires.
Every treatment here begins the same way: with time. Time to listen, to slow down, and to understand what your skin, your body and your heart are asking for.
More than anything, this house is built on treating every client as family — with the same love, patience and respect for her individual needs that I would want for someone I hold dear. You are never simply a client here; you are welcomed, you are heard, and you are cared for exactly as you are.
Why Māui
In Māori legend, Māui is a demigod celebrated for his extraordinary strength and courage. He slowed the sun's journey across the sky, fished entire islands up from the ocean floor, and brought fire to humankind — feats no ordinary being could attempt. The horse who gave this house its name carried that same legendary name.
Part of my heart has always belonged to Aotearoa, New Zealand — home to my husband's family. It was there, on a journey made to reconnect across oceans and generations, that I met a horse named Māui.
Horses have been my great love for as long as I can remember — a passion that has quietly walked beside me since the day I was born. Riding Māui through the New Zealand forests and rivers, surrounded by the family I had travelled so far to hold close, was one of the most beautiful and tender times I have known: the two loves of my life, family and horses, meeting in the very same moment.
I named this house after him — after them both — so that feeling could live on in every room of it. Their shared spirit still rides gently through our emblem — a quiet reminder that the most meaningful things we create are born from love, and often carry more than one story within them.
